THE FURNITURE GUILD CONFIGURATOR UPDATE! 524 LOGAN & 526 LUCAS Both models are now on the configurator!  Not all configurations are up yet but the main ones are there.   527 PIPER A new design called Piper is now available on the website, price list and configurator.   Piper is basically an Avalon with rounded corners. It is made with a substructure so the standard interior finish is gray like the Avalon. Available finishes are different than other designs which is why it is in 500 series.   Piper is available in Fluted Finishes which we anticipate will be the way it will be mainly ordered. Piper is currently available in limited configurations.  Bases are available for this design but the selection is limited by the round corners.   Countertops are also limited by rounded corners similar to the Lucas/Logan. All of these limitations and restrictions are maintained in the configurator so you can easily check there for compatibility. NEW! TFG for PROJECTS! The Furniture Guild designs and materials meet contract-quality manufacturing from our global factory network to meet large project timeline and budget requirements. This is something we’ve been working on over the last year and are really excited to announce. Up until now, TFG has basically turned away the large projects as budgets for these jobs were commonly an issue and It simply wasn’t feasible to stop our day-to-day production to produce large scale projects.   We have now completed several large products utilizing larger factories overseas and several more are in the works. This is certainly a different message than what you’ve heard from us in the past.   Nothing is changing about the products that you currently order for luxury, single family residences. But now you can also think of TFG as an option for larger product quantity (30+) jobs. We now have options to be competitive!   ADA OPTION There’s a new code in NYC and California (other markets coming soon) that requires certain rental buildings to include ADA compatible vanities in EVERY room. There is a section in the code that allows for a “convertible” vanity but it must be able to be converted using simple hand tools. Currently, the products available for ADA convertible are very plain and boring.   To solve this, TFG now offers their new G3 ADA Convertible; a slightly modified G3 vanity with or without legs. Four screws come out with a screwdriver and the vanity will slide straight out revealing an ADA compatible apron that holds our standard Mineralstone top. This was shown at BDNY and turned a lot of heads! New Finish We also showed a new finish coming soon: C67 Nocino. (samples in production now)   OTHER THINGS COMING SOON: More fluted finishes compatibility on Configurator New BAND3 design available across the board C67 Nocino to join C-TEX finishes and Guilder Four Interesting points on The Furniture Guild: You can put 700 lbs. of weight on all the substructure-based designs!  And, if a panel is damaged in the field, it can be replaced without uninstalling the countertop, substructure or plumbing! TFG offers more finishes including custom paints, automotive paints and exotic veneers. The drawer system is made in Germany and the “split” area for plumbing is built from marine grade material that is edge banded in 2mm ABS. Looks much nicer than anything else you’re going to see out there! Substructure allows for custom sizes and configurations while the Guilder series is more limited... The Guilder Series uses a bracket system that utilizes 10mm dowels into the Textured Laminate/Acrylic and pressure pulls laterally on the material.  Its strong enough, but not as strong as our substructure.  Guilder is built more like how the competition is building them but there are a few differences that still make it better: The horizontal braces inside are made out of plywood (substructure material) where everyone else uses particle board or MDF. The mounting system is top-of-the-line and made in Italy.  It is rated to hold 330 lbs. Our dowel spacing is kept at 2.5” so we use over double the number of connectors compared to our competitors! The drawer system is a less expensive one but has the same weight rating, adjustability and warranty. Not quite as upscale as the German version we offer in the main line but significantly better than what most other companies are using. We offer a lifetime warranty on Guilder. Do you know of another company that offers this on their vanities?  At any price point? Guilders are still built one-at-a-time by the same builders that build the Avalon and each one is signed by the Craftsman. Most competitors build their products on an assembly line in bulk. Guilder uses a powder coated steel U shaped piece where most other mars use cheap plastic. Fluted Faces vs Fluted Fronts 
We have 2 new options in the pricelist on page 17.
Fluted Faces replaces all finished panel surfaces.
Fluted Fronts replaces only the fronts with fluted fronts.
 
Configurator
We have activated Fluted Faces for the Avalon on the Configurator. You can select Fluted from the Panel finish section. Fluted panels are only available in A Paints for now.
 
Next we will add Fluted Fronts to Hayden, Hannah, Edwin. It’s a great look and will completely change the look of these designs.
 
Hardware on Flutes
We are going to offer all (or most) of our decorative hardware on fluted finishes.  Stay tuned to see how we will be integrating hardware that we’re developing now. Many companies are offering fluted finishes but none will integrate hardware like we will. It will be special.
 
Guildcrete 2.0 – Guildcrete 1.0 is on hold for now but we have something special brewing. Big improvement to this program that you will like. Stay tuned!

California Faucets has updated the estimated lead times on their website to reflect faster ETA’s for many finishes!

The only exception remains the SBZ, GRP, and LSG finishes that had their lead times extended slightly.  We believe this is still a temporary situation and every effort is being made to reduce these three lead times as well.  Thank you for your support!

Say Goodbye to A Stain…
All Category A Stains are discontinued due to a lack of sales; please remove them from your Finish Sample Box. They have also been removed from the FG website, configurator and digital price list.
Please let us know if you have any quotes with a stain finish.  The factory will still make the piece for you for the next 60 days.  After 60 days, stain finishes will be priced as a custom stain on Maple (A+20%) and require a sample match approval.

New Quartz Colors – TFG is adding 7 new quartz colors from Silestone. These new colors will be a great addition to their top program:

 

White Zeus Polished – Bright White with very little inclusion. This is a step up over the current Pure White

Camden – Suede – Light warm gray that looks like concrete. Soft Suede finish.

Charcoal Soapstone – Polished – Dark, cool blue/black with subtle marble effect. Not as black as Nero Marquina but this color should prove to be more saleable.

Calypso - Polished - Dark, warm brown with subtle marble effect. TFG made a test top from this for ICFF a couple of years ago and everyone really liked it.

Eternal Serena - Polished - Light cool gray with subtle white veining.  TFG really likes this color and thinks it will be a great seller.

Ethereal Glow – Polished - Bright white background with beige/gold veining. Think of this as the new version of Calacatta but the white is whiter. This is a hot new color from Silestone.

Ethereal Noctis - Polished  - Bright white background with gray veining. Think of this as the new version of Bianco. But the white is whiter. This is a hot new color from Silestone as well.

 

Quartz Samples – We are waiting for our samples to show you what is on the way and will advise when we can deliver sets to your showroom.

 

Existing Colors/Displays – TFG is not discontinuing the current colors yet but they will be slowly phasing them out.  We encourage dealers with current quartz colors to look at selling those displays and replacing with the new colors soon.

 

New Sink for Compact Depth 18” – TFG has a new 13x10 rectangle undermount porcelain sink called “Belle” in production now. It should be available in October and will allow TFG to offer their Quartz and Carrara tops in their 18” compact depth.

 

7 New Designs on Configurator – Please check them out!  They are still a few bugs to work out on these new designs but we’d say they are 99% there. Be sure to check them out and tell your customers!  They are:

42”/48” Guilders are now in the price list and also in the configurator. These vanities are available for order now but the Mineralstone tops aren’t ready yet.

 

42”/48” Mineralstone tops will be ready mid-September. TFG has them shown in the price list now as well as on the configurator and we will let you know when they arrive.

 

Double Guilders – TFG added Double Guilders to the configurator just as a test; they might leave them up there for now to see what happens. The pricing is based on a standard size Guilder x2. If you order double sink tops to go with these, the lead time will increase. Only the Mineralstone tops are in stock and shipping in 2 weeks.

 

24” Fireclay Tops – Discounted to $495 list while supplies last!

 

Lead times – Guildstone is running slower than other items in all cases. Please note:

 

Anything with a Guildstone Top: 10-12 Weeks

Metal Designs: 10-12 weeks

Non-Metal Standard Designs: 8-10 weeks

Guilder: 2 weeks

Many accounts have commented on several orders shipping really fast (2-4 weeks).  Every now and then TFG will have a run of a finish, design, etc. and sometimes it happens! If you ever need something fast, please call the factory to check. In some cases, it’s possible!

 

Shipping Issues - Please Help!

Shipping companies are getting harder and harder to deal with. TFG needs their customers to be sensitive to this issue and help by following these guidelines:

 

Please tell your customers/warehouse folks to please do the following:

 

If a box arrives and is obviously damaged (holes from a forklift, crushed, etc.), PLEASE REFUSE THE SHIPMENT. This way it goes back to the factory and TFG can make everything good and shipping costs don’t triple.

 

If there is slight damage, NOTATE ON the Bill of Lading AND INSPECT IMMEDIATELY. Even if the driver leaves, please inspect and call the factory right away.

Just a friendly "heads up" that there will be a new 2022 Catalog and Price List in early Spring. We will announce the exact effective date well in advance to give you plenty of time to update your systems and inform your clients.

Discontinued Items!

California Faucets always strives to keep their offerings fresh and relevant, so the new catalog will be full of exciting new products with outstanding designs and smartly considered technology. Of course, to make way for these new products, we will need to bid adieu to some old standbys. 

The button below will give you a heads-up of the products that are being discontinued so that you can begin pre-planning your display space and commitments while providing your customers with the most up-to-date information.

While the official "discontinued effective date" will be the effective date of the new catalog, we will continue to support and accept orders, inventory permitting, for an appropriate transition period afterwards. Please note that due to ongoing supply chain uncertainties, inventory may be exhausted prior to the official discontinue date, in which case, we will notify you that we are unable to accept the order. 

For example, that is the current case with all Swarovski Crystal products. About one year ago, Swarovski, announced that they were discontinuing the manufacture of all items except jewelry. At that time, we placed our final order estimating our needs for the next year. However, due to strong overall sales over the past l2 months, we exhausted that inventory earlier than projected and cannot get any additional supply. Therefore, all items containing Swarovski Crystal are discontinued effective immediately. 

For other items, we may find ourselves with excess inventory. In these cases, it may be an excellent profit opportunity for you to pick up overstock of discontinued items at a significant discount. If you are interested in getting a quote and availability of any discontinued item, please reach out to your Creative Bath Sales Rep.

1. The Corsano Kitchen Culinary Faucet, a previous Interior Design “Best of Year” Award winner, recently won an honorable mention from the Decorative Plumbing & Hardware Association’s 2021 “POTY” awards.  One of the reason it was lauded again was because they freshened the series with the addition of a cool squeeze spray handle.

A few Furniture Guild thoughts and changes to be aware of…

Material pricing continues to increase but the factory is trying to keep their pricing stable. There will not be any major price changes for standard product at this time. 

1. Guildstone Price Change – New pricing will be in effect 8/26; the increase is 4-5%.  They will honor current pricing through the end of 8/25. The pricelist configurator pricing for Guildstone has been updated. 
2. Custom Paint Finishes – The cost of custom paint colors is increasing from 10% to 15%.  Small batch paint color mixing has always been expensive and a challenge. This increase will also apply to custom Automotive Finishes and is now in the current pricelist. 
3. Custom Sizing – Although a multiplier has never been published, many custom sizes have only had a 15% upcharge in the past. However, that charge is now 25%; please use that as a guide until you request an exact quote. 
4. Grain Direction –  They are making a few changes on new designs with regard to grain direction. Most of you probably think this isn’t a big deal but it will be important to some customers so please understand the changes being made so you can be prepared to answer that question. You might not have noticed but the standard grain direction for 105 and 106 designs is currently:

• Vertical on Sides
• Horizontal on Drawers
• Vertical on Doors

The New 105 and 106 designs include configurations with doors and drawers. We believe it looks better using horizontal grain on drawers and vertical on doors when typical decorative hardware is installed. This is not a technique for cutting corners or reducing prices; just what looks best.
 

Since the beginning, we’ve always talked about and sold “continuous wood grain” across the front of our designs. The Furniture Guild will still provide “continuous wood grain” on designs with all drawers as before. But when you start adding drawers and doors on the same cabinet with slab style fronts, it tends to look odd when using typical decorative hardware, hence the change.  This is a subtle detail; here are some examples:

If a customer wants to change the standard grain direction, they can always have it quoted custom. If it can be made to work, it will be done.
 
*The new 522, 524 and 526 will also follow this.
*Existing designs like 240 River, 410 Tempo, 420 Revo, 430 Fresco are not changing. Those designs will maintain their grain direction rules as stated in the pricelist.  
*Main point – Grain direction standards are listed in the pricelist (see image below). If you think your customer might care about this detail, be sure to review it with them.

5. Configurator –

   New Guildstone pricing has been uploaded.

   105 Kaelyn and 106 Lylah, BAND1 and POCKET PULLS will be coming online soon.  One known issue is that 106 Lylah will allow you to use thinner tops but requires 2.0 min when using a configuration with a drawer under the   sink.

   Wood Bases and Guildcrete will be added soon.

 Lead times are still running 10-12 weeks.  The factory is hiring more people, expanding their building, etc. to try to ship faster.  But, as you know, good things take time and are worth the wait! 😊

As a result, California Faucets will also be raising prices with an across-the-board 10% increase effective July 15^th.

The California Faucets model # 9190 “Tile StyleDrain” is now stocked at the factory in all available finishes!  As you know, they are often needed at the beginning of a job, just like any other roughs.

The top edge of the inner frame (wherein the tile is set) and the top edge of the outer frame are what is finished.

Available finishes are Polished Chrome (PC), Blackened PVD (BKD), Polished Nickel PVD (PN), Polished Brass PVD (PB), Satin Gold Brass PVD (SGB) and Satin Stainless Steel PVD (SNN).

The most popular finishes continue to have estimated lead times of less than five weeks:

These lead times are all based on factory conditions.  Of course, the disruption to the global supply chain is still a major factor for just about every industry.  When we cannot ship within the ESTIMATED lead times, it will most often be due to the disruption of the global supply chain.

...And now for some good news from The Furniture Guild!

We have added 2 new sink shapes for this year.

 The Ascent2 and Ascent48.

These are great designs that feature a slot drain in the back that runs the width of the sink.

The sink includes a separate drain pan that accepts a standard drain which is included.

The pan is attached to the bottom of the sink by the plumber during installation.

Oceania Baths is updating the linear overflow version of their popular "Pure" bathtubs.  As of October 1, 2020, the toe-touch drain and overflow trim will be a required accessory from Oceania Baths and shipped in its own box to be installed by the contractor on the jobsite.

DADOquartz has decided to discontinue the current versions of the BUDDY and GABBY bathtubs by the end of this year.

These are the only two tubs in the line that do not have internal overflow systems.

Therefore, this change will make all their tubs 100% internal overflow systems. No more ugly “waste and overflow” drains needed!

Starting tomorrow, the factory will be adding the following finishes:  SBZ, LSG, BNU.  This brings us to 15 finishes now available.

FACTORY UPDATE:

The factory is steadily gearing up; beginning tomorrow, June 10, they will be back up to full staff for all shifts and production will increase accordingly.  

The following finishes will be added: BTB, ORB and LPG.  They are already offering these finishes: PC, SN, PN, MBLK, PB SB, USS, BBU and PBU.

If all continues to go well, they will be adding more finishes for each of the next three weeks which will bring us to all finishes with a full staff.  

A note of caution: The virus numbers in the State of CA are ticking up.  As has been the case this entire time, the safety for the factory team is the number one concern; management has been monitoring conditions vigilantly. Should anything pop up that would alter the current course, we will keep you advised.

California Faucets is pleased to announce that they are progressing well with the factory re-opening.  As a result, starting today (6/2/20), the following finishes will be added to production: PB, SB, USS, BBU, PBU.

If all continues to go well, the factory is planning to add more finishes mid next week.  This all depends on no changes due to the virus or other issues at the factory.

UPDATE FROM CALIFORNIA FAUCETS ON COMPANY OPERATIONS DURING THE COVID19 PANDEMIC 

Hope everyone is safe and doing well during this Pandemic. This will pass sooner than later and normalcy will be here again. I wanted to update you on California Faucets Covid-19 status.

As you know, California Faucets decided to pause factory operations last month to protect the safety and health of all employees, their families and the community-at-large. 

After careful planning, they have determined that they can safely build and ship California Faucets Polished Chrome and Satin Nickel orders*.   They are doing this with a skeletal crew that can comfortably adhere to the strictest of expert guidelines to retain a safe and healthy work environment. 

Currently, they are only able to do this with Polished Chrome and Satin Nickel because neither requires the multi-step processes and larger finishing crews to produce the more complex artisan finishes.   Existing PC and SN orders are now in production and all new PC and SN orders will be promptly entered and scheduled. 

Shipping times will be delayed initially as they re-start operations and begin to work on back orders.  Please give them about two weeks before asking about specific PO’s as they work to navigate the situation.   

The factory is assuming all orders you’ve sent in prior to the factory pausing production remain current and will ship accordingly unless we hear from you.

They will continue to enter new orders for all finishes, create RMAs, respond to customer service inquiries, provide technical assistance, as well as ship critical components like valves and cartridges.  

We all eagerly look forward to a day very soon when they can safely expand production to the rest of the finishes.  But they will not do it any sooner than is believed to be safe for their employees and reflects the caring spirit of the stay at home order.  Flattening the curve and protecting the health of all, especially the most vulnerable, remains the number one priority.

Dear Select Dealers:

I hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy.  We understand that everyone is operating under difficult circumstances while navigating this unprecedented and rapidly changing situation.  We are doing our best to be a good business partner, a valued supplier, and an overall good world citizen during this difficult COVID-19 crisis.

I want to take a moment to update the current status of operations at California Faucets, Dezi Home and PVD Coatings.  While we could try to argue that we meet the “technical” classification of essential, we cannot in good conscience put our employees at risk of exposure, nor the community-at-large.  We believe we need to err on the side of protecting lives rather than short term commerce.  For these reasons, we have elected to continue to keep our production facility closed in accordance with the State of California “Stay at Home” order.

However, we continue to work remotely and have a very minimal staff in the factory to continue serving urgent needs (e.g. roughs, cartridges, etc.).  Please note:

•  We have bolstered the ability for more of our customer service staff to work from home in order to give you more prompt service. 
•  We have updated lead time information for visibility on projected lead times once we are able to reopen at https://www.calfaucets.com/covid19-lead-times
•  We continue to fulfill and ship essential repair parts, cartridges, rough valves, etc.
•  While we have rough valves in stock and can ship them, we may not “allocate” larger stocking orders to ensure we have sufficient supply available for everyone (we don’t want our rough valve area to look like your local supermarket toilet paper shelf 😊).
•  We cannot accept returns at this time as there are no personnel in the factory to receive and process them.

•  For new orders:  We will continue to receive and process new orders via email only at orders@calfaucets.com.  We will enter them as usual and you should receive an emailed order confirmation as always, but we will not begin production until the factory re-opens.

As many of you have already heard, the Governor of California, Gavin Newson, has issued an executive order (https://covid19.ca.gov/img/N-33-20.pdf) mandating that the entire state must “stay in place” except for critical services such as food and medical care.
 
What does this mean to you? California Faucets doesn't know how long the factory will be closed. The phones at this point will not be answered by humans: they are in the process of putting in place a voicemail system remotely. We will let you know when this system is up and working.

In the interest of communicating accurate lead time information to our customers, we would like to inform you of the following two issues from California Faucets:

•  The current inventory of ribbon spouts-- used in the 72 and 78 Series-- are not meeting their strict quality standards when it comes to polished finishes.  Therefore, they are temporarily not accepting orders for any 72 or 78 Series faucets in polished finishes until further notice.  These finishes include:  Polished Chrome, Polished Nickel, Polished Brass, Lifetime Polished Gold, French Gold, and Black Nickel.  The 72 and 78 Series may, however, still be ordered in all other finishes.
• The current inventory used in their Deluxe Angle Stop program is not meeting their normal quality standards.  In an abundance of caution, they are not shipping any pending orders, nor accepting any new orders, for all finishes until further notice.  The affected SKU’s are: 9000, 9001, 9004, and 9005 and also Angle Stop Kits that contain the affected SKU’s: 9820 to 9834, 9851, & 9853.

 California Faucets apologizes for this inconvenience and would like to assure their valued customers that they are working diligently to resolve the above issues.

We are deeply sorry to let you know that Fred Silverstein, the beloved founder of California Faucets, unexpectedly passed away last night.  

For those of you who were fortunate enough to know Fred, you know what a truly special human being he was and what a loss it is; not only for family, friends, and community, but for employees and the industry at large.  We are both deeply saddened and enormously grateful for the legacy he leaves behind. 

In honor of Fred, the factory will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday, April 30) and will re-open on Wednesday. 

Your understanding is greatly appreciated.

CALIFORNIA FAUCETS -  Posted: 04/23/19

A brief discussion on whether to select Living Finishes or PVD Finishes for your faucets…

Living finishes are uncoated metal; they’re beautiful, like a fine piece of jewelry.  But they will uniquely age and change over time.  Finish care instructions must be followed!

PVD finishes, or Physical Vapor Deposition, come with a lifetime guarantee against tarnishing.  Super-hard and molecularly bonded, PVD is by far the most durable finish available.

Why select a PVD finish?  After all, the most commonly heard objection to PVD is “Living Finishes are more beautiful.” 

This is true.  From a purely artisan point of view, many clients say they look better when compared to PVD finishes.  However, once PVD finishes are installed in the bath or kitchen, there will be no side by side comparisons so the PVD finish will look good and remain stable for many, many years.  Not so with Living Finishes!

Living Finishes constantly change (patina) and require much more care if you want to avoid an uneven or “blotchy” look.  When more than one Living finish faucet is installed in the bath or kitchen, they can even look very different from each other!

For a more even look, faucet wax should be applied to Living Finishes ASAP after installation.  Plumbers usually have chemicals on their hands, which transfers directly to the uncoated metal of Living Finishes during the installation.  This will affect the patina process where they touched the faucet.

Additionally, faucet wax should be reapplied on a regular basis.  Living finishes are a commitment that must be explained and understood during the sales process.

On the other hand, PVD requires little care.  It is like an inexpensive insurance; pay a little more now for the faucet but you are covered with a lifetime guarantee against tarnishing.

California Faucets offers 13 PVD finishes, more than any other Manufacturer we know of!   Consider a PVD finish like Carbon (CB) or Mocha Bronze (MOB), when thinking about using a Living Finish like Oil Rubbed Bronze (ORB).

Another common complaint we hear from Homeowners is “no one told me what will happen to my Living Finish!”  Let’s be sure to continue to educate clients on the differences so they know what they are buying.  Otherwise, we increase our chances for a finish complaint and loss of good will.

California Faucets had a record setting month in March; we thank all our customers for their support! 

We are also pleased to report that despite the wonderful spike in volume, we currently do not anticipate significant delays in shipping, with one exception... 

The only item that currently merits mentioning is our Terra Mar 78 Series ribbon spout (formerly the 72 Series).  We are unfortunately experiencing some spot outages and delays on the 78 Series lav and vessel faucets.  The delay on this particular series faucet may range anywhere from 0-4 weeks.
